But young docs thinking about making millions in health tech may want to keep in mind that out of 19 named employees in the hot health startup, Rock Health, only one has an MD degree...not much of an opportunity for MDs there...
Although I can understand why the lure of tech for a group of highly educated people who are likely forced into mind-numbing routines might happen. I work in a doctors office as an office manager and I can truly say that if policy makers don't make it a priority to keep docs in the profession, they will soon find themselves on the operating table without anyone to attend to them.
True the doctors nowadays are not that dedicated and committed. They are simply behind Degrees and specialization .Also now acquiring medical degree mainly depends on your financial capabilities rather than merit at least in some countries
ReplyDeleteI don't think that the demand for health workers (including doctors) will ever decrease. People will keep on getting sick as no one can be in the pink of health all the time. IT is also another sector where there is tremendous job growth. In fact, these two sectors have bright potentials and will not go out of fashion.
ReplyDeleteEducation in healthcare has long been seen as a long term money scheme in the name of career. But with the many breakthroughs in medical tec then soon many old fashioned doctors will become extinct.
ReplyDeleteVery few doctors are dedicated these days. Sure its hardwork and pay is less compared to IT industry. But Technology is medical field is also creating waves which will be useful for mankind.
ReplyDeleteI like to believe that doctors and health care workers are in it for other reasons than money. I agree that it is hard to find a "good" doctor. Usually you are in and out - then leave with a $200.00 bill under your belt.

ReplyDeleteI do believe that some doctors of today's society are not so dedicated anymore. There are also a few of them who are willing to serve their people without anything in exchange. However, there are more doctors who have their minds corrupted by money.
ReplyDeleteAmong all other professions, the medical field needs the highest qualifications and continuous professional development due to the nature of the job. There are many advancements in the industry that these doctors need to know if they are working on being the best in what they do. However, it is also true that most of them just work for the money as they know that being in this profession makes one become well-respected in society as well as make them earn more.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only tech industries that are competing for talent. Big Pharmacy is doing the same thing and using money as the attraction to leave medicine
ReplyDeleteI still have high respect for MDs. It is their work where they are being paid off. That's just the price of their hardwork in medicine schools.
ReplyDeleteI still have high respect for MDs. They are just getting paid with the profession they worked hard to achieve.
